Il pezzo fa parte di una serie di brevi studi per flauto che includono elementi tecnici ed espressivi utilizzati dal secondo Novecento in poi. Al di là del valore narrativo ed espressivo, gli studi da concerto di Corrado Cristaldi si presentano come una interessante modalità per accostare nuove tecniche che informano il linguaggio e l’articolazione del flauto. Stesa su un tessuto armonico in bilico tra tonalità e atonalità, Pasacalle è una voce itinerante i cui suoni echeggiano tra le strette vie di un apolide pueblo, rivelando, a piccoli e sommessi cenni, la malinconia di un orizzonte che sembra perduto e lontano. Una separazione alla quale, però, non crede e non cede sino in fondo.

Corrado Cristaldi .  Born in Italy in 1962. He attended his musical studies obtaining a diploma in flute. He continues his training by participating in various study courses. The artistic environment frequented since childhood allowed him to cultivate a strong aptitude for the arts which led him to carry out an intense and multifaceted artistic activity. He writes and experiments with new languages and expressive possibilities for the transverse flute with the use of “extended techniques” in close collaboration with flutists and other instrumentalists.

From 1994 to 2005 was used at the State Administration of the Academy of Fine Arts and Music

Conservatory of Palermo. Since 2006 is the holder of the Chair of Flute at the State Middle School of Music.

From 2012 to 2014 is Adjunct Professor at preparatory courses in the Conservatorio of Music “V. Bellini” in

Caltanissetta.

Since 2019 He has been collaborating as author/composer at the “Young virtuoso” flute competition in St.

Petersburg; since 2020 he has been a member of the jury of the “Singing flute” international flute competition

in Moscow.

From 2014 to 2018 is Professor at Lyceum of Music in Enna.
